for instance: AA-04 from http://shmax.com/product_details/6988/insecticon doesn't show up when viewing my collection here: http://shmax.com/View_Collection/1/853/?sort=date_added&page=1&sort_dir=1&num_results=100
Where does that number even come from?
many japanese figures have a prefix assigned to them so it is easier for collectors to collect them.
I know that and also know why the Kreo kits have numbers. But the picture assigned to that record (for example) is not the Japanese packaging.

Hey, yeah! Where's Ed when you need him..?
I have no clue...but you see these numbers everywhere (http://www.hlj.com/product/tkt37841, http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-AA-04-Insecticon/dp/B003I4DRZ0, ) and the Wiki also refers to them by these numbers. Perhaps they are on the instruction booklets?
There's also this:

That's as Japanese as the packaging is going to get as since Movie 2007, the U.S. and Japan have had nearly identical packaging styles when it comes to the "shared" lines. Usually there's a sticker or something on the Japanese versions, and of course, the bottoms of the packages are clearly different (here's Sidearm Sideswipe's http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/toys/hunt-for-the-decepticons/sidearm-sideswipe/2234/1/9/)
But, as to where the numbers come from, that's a good question...

I've got a fix for this; will check in Saturday.

Is Sidearm Sideswipe AA-06? Those characters are in that pic you linked to... first line starts with AA06.
Yep, there it is. Mystery solved!

I would love it if you guys would load up the comments section of products with information like this, especially when we don't have enough photos to 'splain what's going on. Anyway, the bug is fixed. Thanks again.
