General Transformers Discussion / Stop Hating on SHMAX Signatures!!
July 12, 2009, 06:37:50 PM
I don't remember the name of the person that put that as their signature on TFW2005, but that's funny as hell. It said something about stop hating and deleting shmax signatures that aren't using their bandwidth. It was nice.
I stopped using mine there after it got deleted a couple times. Really not sure what their problem is, this site isn't competition, it's an amazing database and collection resource that all TF fans should know about.
Guess they can't handle the awesome'ness that is Shmax!
Thanks again for the site man, everytime I add a new figure into my collection I'm reminded of what a great thing you've done for us collectors. *applause*

cool deal man. I still log in each time but I think it's because I told my browser (firefox) not to 'remember', or to 'remember later' my username and such the very first time I signed in.
only takes a second to log in though.

Transformers News / Re: Let's do the Skywarp Again!
July 01, 2009, 03:17:44 AM
Sooooo wishing I'd kept my G1 redeco and bought Thundercracker. I didn't know they were gonna come out with a Skywarp and he does look pretty sweet. Surprised they made one since they just made Skywarp for the Animated voyager mold.
s'ok though, I really love the new mold more, I just kept the old one because it's Starscream, but seeing them side by side I really prefer the new one. Especially the alt mode which is a thing of beauty.

When you're looking at your collection on Shmax and it says "Current value unknown" does that mean that figure is not counted in the "Your total collection is worth: $." Part of the fun facts section? Because alot of my collection is "current value unknown" and was curious if that's why my total worth doesn't seem like as much as it should be.

I always seem to get the dates wrong on when an item was purchased. For example it says Megatron in 96 was the first figure I purchased, when really it was Bumblebee and Barricade in 07.
.....but I have a feeling that's my error and not the site software.

General Transformers Discussion / Re: Dropkick is the greatest Movie based TF
June 03, 2009, 11:43:34 PM
ah Sideways, my mistake. Too many "Silver/Side" cars in this movie, lol.
Yeah Sideways has been my favorite toy in the line so far, I just love him. Easily posable, looks cool, no problems with him at all. Plus he channels Kickback and Barricade really well. Pretty much all the other toys have something or another that bugs me.
Skids-Legs are too loose and floppy, wont stand up unless I lean him againt someone, but he does have character and an interesting transformation. (plus it might just be mine that's floppy, though at least his teeth are painted)
Rampage- Cool but very fiddly and annoying getting back into 'Dozer mode and he's missing his D'con insignia on his chest. Jackhammer mode kinda sucks and his Dozer scoop pops off if you look at it wrong. And like you said, No Elbows kinda sucks.
Sideswipe- So someone thought a toy with wheels for feet was a good idea? I've figured out how to get him to stand, rotate his toes up so he's really standing on his heels and wheels, but it's still kinda "wtf?" plus his chest wont snap in at all. Looser then a corner hooker.
Soundwave can't complain too much, I kinda knew what I was getting. I just got him because, "OMG Iz Soundwave he's so G1!!!" I'm a sucker for some G1 characters
Starscream is awesome and his jet mode finally looks really nice. Love the landing gear and all. Then I TF'd him and just kept wondering why the hell his arms and elbows were so jacked.
Demolisher is awesome, but I'm very annoyed that his hands/buckets don't split open to make actual hands and fingers like he has in the trailer. They're plenty big enough to allow for hinges and all, I just really don't understand why they took such a lazy route on his hands. That's my only complaint about him. And I admit I really think the way his treads pop into wheels is just brilliant.
___________
I love the classics/beast wars/animated toys so much, and they're so durable and solid, fun to transform etc. I guess I'd forgotten how fiddly and kind of annoying the movie figures can be. I like them alot, and I really like the way they look it's a great aestethic *sp?* (I'm tired, can't spell) But I just never seem to have FUN with them like I do the other toys. I mean classics Ultra Magnus I'll pull down and put it on the coffee table while I watch movies or something, and I'll constantly be TF'ing him and putting him in badass poses and such. they're just generally fun to transform and pose and stuff. But I just never seem to have that fun factor with the movie toys even though I like them alot.
Just don't understand why that is. They always feel like they're gonna break, and I never get that feeling with the other toy series.

"Thanks again for the kind words, and no, I'm not letting you off the hook for those photos!"
When I saw the contest happening I couldn't believe how many pics you were getting submitted, and how fast too! I would've loved to help out but a friend of mine bought an apartment building in Chicago so I moved over to his building and started fixing the place up so me and my girl would have our own apt. (instead of sharing a house with my bandmates.)
Little did I know just HOW MUCH work it would be to fix this place up!

Eh, Landmines, "allright," But movie longarm would whup his arse with his "big gun o' doom!"
Longarm (the towtruck) is a pretty underrated movie figure. Funny how some of the best molds weren't really in the movie.
Agreed that Sideswipes awesome, if only he'd stand up and keep his chest together.
Was surprised at how cool Rampage turned out to be, the new Starscream mold is really cool too though his arms are kinda jacked. Wonder why it's so hard to get a decent movie Starscream with decent arms? 2 different molds and both of them have bizarre arms

Nothing tops Movie Swindle, Movie Dreadwing and Movie Payload for me. I absolutely detest those pieces of crap.
I really like the Henkei Classics Grimlock though (which someone mentioned) I know he's not exactly G1, but for me with the chrome and colors and stuff he does give me the feeling of G1 Grimlock. And that's all he's really supposed to do.

June 02, 2009, 09:49:47 PM
yeah I thought animated was awesome. Was a bit turned off by the art style at first, but the writing and characterization really won me over.
Then there's the toys which are awesome.
For me I'd have to say: G1, Beast Wars, Movie'verse and Animated are definitely my favorites.
