I have very few toys that still have their boxes so most of my submissions are going to be figure only. That being said the info I'm able to provide is limited without browsing the interent. Which I have no problem doing....

Q: If something is left blank here while filling out these forms how easy is it for someone to go back in and fill the rest in? Who is qualified for this kind of thing after a submission is made, just 'admin' (you) or the general membership at large? Are you looking specifically for Hasbro production pics and is there a size limit to the images you want?

You sir, ask good questions. The answers should probably go in a FAQ somewhere, but this is all still changing, so for now I'll just wing it.

For starters, all I really ask is that you're pretty sure of the information you provide. If you're just doing figures, make sure that you have the name totally correct, so that when the package comes along it will be easy to link up. And if you don't see the appropriate faction symbol, let me know and we'll gang up on it and find it and get it in there, again, to make identification easier. Generally speaking, doing research is probably a great idea when you're flyind blind like this. As you say, what with all the repaints and redecos out there, it can be easy to make mistakes, so the more careful you are the better off we'll be.

As for leaving blanks, well, I suppose it depends on the blank. Certain vital info must be provided, or the system won't accept it (names, price, and so on). If you're doing packages, a lot of that information can be retrieved from sites like www.tfarchive.com. Given that you're the first person (besides me) to be brave enough to attempt data entry, we'll just have to see how much damage blanks will do--ultimately, I'm responsible for making sure that the system only accepts useful data, it's not something the general user should have to wonder about.

Currently, after submissions are made, only admins can do modifications. There are snarly logical reasons why it's like that, suffice it to say that the way it is now was the easy way, and that I definitely have plans to add support for user modifications (a good week of work, at least). We're beta buddies for now, so don't sweat mistakes. I may even see if I can find a way to give you limited admin access (or remove the block on user mods) if you're going to really work at this stuff.

And finally, pictures should be under 100k (the system will complain if you go over), and no, it's not necessary that all pics be from Hasbro, but if you do come up with something from somewhere else, make sure that the toys are brightly lit and photographed against a white background so that they more or less look like all the other pics already up.

Whew! I'm gonna take a break and do some data entry myself...

Thanks, we strive to provide.

One more Q: What happens if multiple members make duplicate submissions or attempt a submission that already exists? Does the system have a way to recognize and notify the user?

Cool, I've got a spreadsheet with my entire collection listed on it so naming and faction applying will be a cinch. I'll double check any info I provide with TFU / TFArchive of course. The idea here is to be productive and not the anti.   :D  I'll leave as few blanks as possible, it always sucks to have to backtrack anything.

Only one instance of a name is allowed per category. So in other words, if Cybertron > Deluxe already has a Starscream, it will complain if you try to add Starscream again (one of the dupes you pointed out was actually named "Starscrean", with an "n"). And in rare instances where there are legitimately two different figures with the same name in the same category, well, you just have to come up with a unique name for one of them (ie. "Starscream (Target Redeco)".

Also, note that any new entries will be flagged as pending, such that only the submitter and I can see them until an admin checks 'em over (in theory, anyway). So, don't worry too much about mistakes, big brother is watching. Now, let 'er rip!
