I know it's a little confusing (it took me 15 minutes with the debugger to catch on), but the collector numbers are correct. There actually ARE 8 items in that toyline category. Only 6 are displaying, because you had clicked on the "See all new releases" link on the home page, which means only items that have been released will be shown. Two of the items in that category are "upcoming" as of this writing.
I think the "top collectors" portlet will be going away in the fairly near future (with the preferred way for judging rank to be a visit to the dedicated
collectors page
