Folks, to commemorate the start of the September contest tomorrow, I thought I'd honor an early work by our most prolific photo contributor and winner of the last two photo contests, Engledogg. Engledogg, or Ed, as we call him, has personally submitted 5,143 of the 12,484 photos on shmax.com, which is 41% of the photos, which is almost too incredible a statistic to fathom. Just to help you put it in perspective, if his photos were laid down end-to-end, they would stretch around the Earth 4 and a half times. Put together they weigh more than 1200 lbs. He's not only taken more photos than Ansel Adams, but his photos typically feature more robot toys, too. Today's photo is one of the first he ever submitted. Sure, it's a bit crude by our modern standards, but he's matured with practice and he's not only since raised the bar, he's beaten the rest of us around the head and neck with it. So let's all doff our silly hats for a moment to recognize this digital Da Vinci, this Lord of the Light Box, this pixel-Picasso. But don't let him scare you away from participating in the photo contest--sooner or later he has to run out of toys, doesn't he? D-doesn't... he...?
