Is there an easy way to tell what assortment a loose figure belongs to? I'm not really seeing any way to easily distinguish how to tell whether I have G1 Hound from Assortment 3, or G1 Hound from Assortment 1, for example. If there's not an easy way to tell on Shmax currently, does anyone know of a good site that lays out the differences between assortments?

Hmm, I see that we do indeed have two different figure records for g1 hound. They both have photos--do they provide no hints? Ordinarily I'd suggest trying Fred's Workshop, but I don't think his site has come back online since the fall of geocities. In the meantime, Engledogg may be able to advise you, as he submitted photos for both figures...

Assortment 1 Hound has no rubsign sticker (same goes for the rest of his assortment mates), whereas Assortment 3 Hound does have a rubsign sticker (as do the other Autobot cars from this assortment).

Also, Assortment 2 cars do not have a rubsign sticker, either - so, basically everything from Assortment 3 and beyond do have the symbol.

I changed the names of the subcategories to reflect the inclusion/omission of the rubsign - I also did this for the Generation 1 Jets (assortment 1 - no rubsigns, assortment 2 and beyond - rubsigns).

The rubsign is really only noticeable in the vehicle pics of Hound, so if there's one to be found on your Hound, it'll be positioned on his hood.

Yeah, Fred's site was a great resource, and in fact, I tried looking at it before making a post, but obviously that didn't work out. And holy crap, Shmax, you're up early on Turkey Day.

I figured it had to do with the rubsign, but I didn't know for sure, and wanted to get verification before I added the "wrong" figure. Yes, I'm anal like that. Anywho, thanks for the heads-up, I appreciate it. Thought I'd give Shmax's database a shot after hearing about it on TFW2005.
