I know there are a few of you out there trying to get the hang of this toy photography business. Sure, you could blow a lot of time reading over our long-winded
tutorials and guideline pages, maybe take a class at the community college, or you could just check out one of Hellscream's photos. Let's go over the checklist:
- Pure white background
- Strong contrast--bright colors, rich, dark--but not inky--blacks
- Even lighting with no glare or specular hot spots
- Perfect tone--no grain, fuzz, or blur
- And most importantly, a tasteful, soft shadow pooling at the subject's feet
How does he do it? I really don't know. I think he may be on the "juice", see, a special chemical concoction he brews himself, made from ginkgo biloba, GPS shavings, and--oh wait, he actually posted a detailed work-up of his process, here:
