- Switched to top collector ranking to the new  ranking which will give better perfomance  and be more flexible.
- The Fun Facts collection ranking is now the Top Collector ranking.

- Now the gif signature matches uses the top collector ranking as well.

It doesn't?  When viewing your collection, it looks like it is matching up.

That's because you are using the flash version.  I just committed the changes for it.  My previous post was about the gif version.

Now everything matches.

Spaceharfang,
thanks for your excellent work. One more thing, Shmax had put together a compact signature, so it wouldn't be over the TFW limit. Mine is: http://www.shmax.com/img/sigs/853/signa ... ?compact=1 and it isn't updated. Can you please update it.

Thanks!

We may have to rethink how to handle the compact signature. I remember I hacked that together for you very quickly, but later found some issues with it. I think it had to do with the way I cache the images--something about only caching a single image, even though there are now two possible versions, and the two versions fighting and overwriting each other as your sig is displayed in different contexts (ie. forum display vs. the "Your dynamic signature" page display).

Anyway, one more task for the pile.

Not that it matters too much for me since I'm selling off a lot of stuff, but is this new ranking system in place based on new criteria? Or is this an alignment between rankings of fun facts and top collectors based on existing criteria?

Spaceharfang can answer in more detail, as he's the brains behind this work, but I believe this is an intermediate step. For now, both "top collectors" and "rank" are at last using the same heuristic to compute uberness. This is not the end! Spaceharfang is setting things up such that a variety of ranks (completion, volume, bargain-level, value, and figure count have all been suggested) can be generated with the same ease, and I believe that once we have a bunch of them we'll find some way to mix them all together to create a composite number, which will become The Rank. I think what we'll do is show all the ranks on your profile page, so it's more clear what's happening.

With this work, Spaceharfang says we'll also finally be able to browse users by rank. Yay, I say!

Before the change, the top collector list on the home was based on sku counting and the fun facts on part counting.
I moved everything to use the same logic.  The counting selected in this is the one that was used on the home page.

Looks the same now.  Probably a gif caching issue like shmax mentionned.
