There are actually six variants (seven counting the transitional unit) to Jetfire. From Fred's workshop:
Matsushiro 1: Finer "ridged" detail on antennae, painted insignia, lined canopy.
Matsushiro 2: Finer "ridged" detail on antennae, sticker insignia, lined canopy.
Matsushiro 3: Finer "ridged" detail on antennae, sticker insignia, unlined canopy.
Matsu-Bandai: Matsu body with Bandai antennae/copyright. (Transitional Unit)
Bandai 1: Smooth antennae, Bandai logo, no insignia, no copyright.
Bandai 2: Smooth antennae, Bandai "box", no insignia, logo (C)1984.
Bandai 3: Smooth antennae, Bandai "box", no insignia, logo (C)1985.
The reason why we didn't go into this amount of detail could be that at the time of the listings, only three variants were really "recognized"...or it could be that these fall under stampings/markings variants, which could potentially open up a huge can of worms. Stampings are just too "all over the place" to accurately keep track of. I mean, yes anyone can make a list of the various stampings and markings found on a figure, but to match up those figures with the correct package is another story entirely. Once we have a better variant system, things like this will be addressed.
As far as Bandai/Matsushiro as the manufacturer, we're going with Hasbro. Just like with Shockwave (ToyCo), Skylynx and Omega Supreme (Toybox), and anything else that Hasbro borrowed the molds from, we consider Hasbro the manufacturer.
Where you will find some of those companies is in the mold origin:
http://www.shmax.com/part_details/17955/jetfireThe Jetfire mold originated with the Macross line, produced by Takatoku Toys. Takatoku Toys went belly up in 1984, and their projects were purchased by Bandai, which then licensed out some of the molds (Jetfire, Deluxe Insecticons, Deluxe Autobots) to Hasbro.
Any user can submit a new package. Just click on the "Add it Yourself!" button and go from there.
So, once you create the packages, if you can find out which existing version(s) goes in the European MB and Hasbro boxes, I'll do a quick copy for ya...
