This was noted on another post, but that item's description got fixed during a modify. I found another item with a similarly garbled description. I promise not to save over it this time!

Yep, that's pretty funky!

It's ancient Cybertronian...I can't read it, but I bet if we find a Decepticon, he'll know what it says.

Another item with the "ancient Cybertronian".

I'll get to those one of these days. Remind me again once the dust settles after my next huge check-in...

May be related. The product name has Question Marks in it. The location of these also altered the URL, showing an underscore.

Yep, that's a bug.  The "é"s are doing it, I believe.

We have a fix on the way! Solarsail, boy genius that he is, has discovered the problem. We're still discussing the best way to fix it, but we should have something by the end of the day.

I've created this temporary filter for finding parts with mangled "description" info:

http://www.shmax.com/parts?q%5Bfilters%5D%5BcorruptedPartInfo%5D=1

You can poke through it a bit, but I wouldn't bother changing anything--I'm going to restore from backup on my local machine and see if I can fix some of these...

shmax

So I pulled data from March 2012 (which I believe predates the major breakage I introduced a few months back), and used it to repair the corruped records in the current data set. This brings us from around 260 corrupted part records to 76. I believe these remaining records were either introduced after the big bug, or were there before but for other reasons. Feel free to go through and start repairing them by hand. Thanks, guys.

I just tried it again with data from June of this year, and now we're down to only 23 scrambled records.

shmax

I fixed all those, but then I tried searching for a different unicode character (Æ), and came up with a whole new set of corrupted records. Again, I'm fairly certain that these are all unrelated to the recent bug, but we should fix them nonetheless. Updating from backup didn't help much, which means that these have been like this all along. I'll pick at them between projects, but I would certainly welcome any help in doing repairs.

Yeah, I did a bunch yesterday but the page, when refreshed, didn't update.  The total stayed at 110 and items I fixed weren't removed from the list, even after multiple cache clearings.
